How to Transfer an Embroidery Pattern onto Fabric

Interested in learning how to get your embroidery design onto fabric? Check out this quick and easy method to start stitching in no time!

Supplies You'll Need: 

  1. Embroidery hoop
  2. Linen fabric
  3. Your printed pattern
  4. Transfer pen
  5. Light pad or bright window

Watch the Tutorial

Step 1

Place your fabric in your embroidery hoop (with the back side of your fabric facing up). 

Step 2 

Place your printed pattern on a light pad or other light source, like a bright window. 

Step 3 

Place your hoop upside down on your pattern and trace onto fabric using a transfer pen

Step 4

Remove your fabric from the hoop and flip it around, so the pattern is on top. Now you're ready to grab your embroidery thread and start stitching!
